The Journey

A week in Moray Speyside — the malt-whisky centre of the world. We base in a private luxury cottage, walk into distilleries that do not generally open to walk-ins, and end the days with long fires, local tables, and the slow, peaty cadence of the Spey.

Speyside is not a destination people pass through. It is a destination people return to — for the rhythm of it, for the way the river holds its mist late into morning, for the fact that within a half hour's drive you can stand inside seven of the most storied distilleries on earth and still be home for supper.

We have built this week with the same care we bring to our continental atelier. A private luxury cottage in the heart of the trail. A private chef one night. The Macallan estate restaurant — TimeSpirit, the El Celler de Can Roca collaboration — on another. Tastings inside the warehouses, not at the visitor counters. Afternoons that end with a quiet walk along the Spey, or a beach hop on the Moray Firth, or three hours among fifty alpacas in the high meadows.

It is a hedonist week, written in malt. The itinerary moves with the weather and, gently, with the consumption.

Inside the warehouse. Not at the counter.
